The Revd Sarah Sewell the Trust Chaplain to the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and works with Revd Sue Bull, whilst Epsom Methodist Church supports the Trust. Lay assistants - some from our own church - take an active part in these and also minister to patients throughout the wards. Together they have responsibility for the hospitals and clinics covered by the Trust.

Would you be a Link person?
A scheme has been running, for a number of years at Epsom Methodist Church, linking people at EMC with a small number of others in the church who they will look out for. This is sometimes people who are already friends or in the same house group or church group.
As there are quite a number of people who do not have a link person we would like to encourage more people to be involved.
It is a simple, helpful, kindly way of caring for each other.
Look out for them and greet them at church
Notice when they are not there
Make contact if they have not been to church for a week or two
Let the Ministry or Pastoral Team know if you are concerned
’A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ John 13:34
Could you be involved in this way of our being a caring church?
The attachment (EMCdb18.accdb, below) is a Microsoft Access® 2010 database of the last 10 years of hymns and songs sung at EMC services on Sunday mornings and is intended as a helpful aid to musicians and those planning service music.
It is indexed to Hymns & Psalms, Songs of Fellowship, Singing the Faith, Methodist Hymn Book and Mission Praisecombined edition and also indicates the set tunes from H&P, StF and MHB
At the end of the first quarter of the 2017/18 financial year (November 2017) our regular giving to the church totalled £26,983.11. This compares with £26,708.94 for the previous year and once again shows an increase, this time of £274.17 (1.03%). It is most encouraging to report a further increase.
Over Christmas, all collections were taken on behalf of Action for Children. At the Carol service it was £186.40. At the Midnight Communion service, it was £70.06. At the Christmas Day service, it was £264.17. These total £520.63. Thank you for your generosity towards this most deserving charity and thank you again for your continued support for the church and other charitable work.
Senior Steward’s Update Jan 2018
Senior Steward’s Update
It has been a while since I have written an update and a lot of things have happened. Christmas was a joyful but frenetic event at EMC with many services and events.
EMC hosted another successful Christmas Together. I would like to thank Heather and Tony Blakeburn and their team for running the event. Heather and Tony have decided to step down after five years. Thank you to them for this commitment – the event makes a huge difference to those who would have been alone at Christmas. Keith and Lisa Halstead will be taking over in 2018.
In January we had an amazing church mission day. I hope that those who joined us for Ignite found it an uplifting and helpful occasion. It is really positive to think about our mission as a church. Keep your eyes open for follow up.
Over the last few months, Richard Smith and our auditor Harry Wilkinson have been working hard on our annual report. I would like to thank them for all their time and effort. It is an enormous piece of work which can be found on the Charity Commission website and in the office. It will be presented at the Church AGM on Saturday 21 April. Come along to hear about the plans for the year and be involved in the decision making. We will have children’s activities so that everyone can come.
This month we are looking forward to the church Book Fair in February. This will be EMC’s seventeenth successive Book Fair. There are many opportunities to get involved and plenty of books for sale so do come along and support it!
We are always trying to support you with any issues so please feel free to come and raise anything. You can see me in the welcome area between services, use my pigeon hole or email me ().
