Why not start the New Year by joining with the whole church for a special day of fellowship, worship and teaching on Sat 13th Jan 2018, 10.00am to 4.30pm? Our guest speaker, Rev Dr Martyn Atkins, will lead us in thinking about how, both as a church and as individuals, we can be inspired and empowered to be more involved in God’s mission here in Epsom. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided and there will be activities for children aged 0 – 11. There is no charge for the day, but numbers are required for catering, so please sign up one Sunday, or email Everyone is very welcome, so please make a note of the date and join us as we begin 2018, seeking to know more of how God can use us here at EMC. To book or for further information please speak to Chris Shaw or Peter Thompson or email EMC Events Manager.
The box for cards is in the Welcome Area. Please don’t put cards in for people who don’t get to Church as they won’t receive them. The Scouts post box is by the entrance to the Welcome Area.
On Saturday 23rd Dec at 4.30pm we have our Christingle service and this year we are doing it café style. It will be a fun and family-friendly service helping us all to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. There are lots of ways in which you can help.
Could you help to dress the tables and core oranges, 10am—12 noon on 23 Dec?
Would you join me to go into the town with free mince pies and flyers, 11am to 12 noon on Fri 22nd?
Could you help prepare and serve refreshments? Non-alcoholic punch, orange squash and mince pies before the service; tea, coffee and juice afterwards.
The Christingle service is being set up café style this year. Once it has finished, at about 5.30 pm on Saturday 23rd December, help will be needed to re-set the church ready for Sunday. Any help with this will be gratefully received.
If you can help in any of these ways please contact John Wilson asap here: emc activity week
Preparing for: Christmas Together Lunch
Can you spare an hour after the services on Christmas Eve morning? If so, can you help us prepare for our Christmas Together Lunch? We need some people to help peel spuds and prep other veggies as well as wrap some presents, lay tables etc. The more of us there are, the less time it takes. Bring a potato peeler if you remember. Thanks in advance. Tony Blakeburn

Books on Prayer
Do we want our Prayer life, both individually and as a church, to grow and develop? In line with the sermon series on Prayer this month, a number of new books have been added to the book shelves at the back of the church. They cover a whole range of aspects of Prayer, so please take a look and see if there is something that you might like to read. Click here for more details.

Ryelands Christmas Fair was held on 25 November. Many thanks to all who donated items, bought programmes and came to the fair. Supported by all the Circuit, an enjoyable afternoon raised a total of £2438 for the Ryelands Amenity Fund, for the benefit of the elderly residents. If you would like to know more about Ryelands and about Methodist Homes across the country, pick up a brochure about Ryelands or a copy of the seasonal magazine ‘Heart and Soul’ from the racks in the church foyer, or contact me. Last week we had our Christmas food collection at Tesco where people were extremely generous. In addition we have received many advent calendars and selection boxes. The result is a very full store cupboard and no current shortages. If you would still like to donate to the Foodbank perhaps you would consider a monetary donation or maybe a gift card. The money will help us to continue supporting local people in crisis, the gift cards would be given to people using the Foodbank. Many thanks for your continued support
The foodbank provides emergency food packages for people in food crisis. If you would be interested in volunteering to help the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank, please email . A number of roles and times are available.

Car Parking – Fines for unauthorised users
Numbers using EMC car parking for shopping and other non-church business seem to be increasing. News of the family
Ann Halliday and family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support, expressed in so many different ways, over the past weeks. It has been truly overwhelming. Thank you also to all who attended the services on 30th November and for the overwhelming number of donations given on that day for the Princess Alice hospice which amounted to £684. Tony would have been astounded and so grateful. Thank you. Ann and family.
