The council oversees all the work of our church including how it spends the funds which we have available. If you are interested in joining this important body, please ask for a nomination form at the Church Office. New members will be voted on at our AGM on Saturday 21st April.
Meeting for Vestry-, Door- and Welcome-Stewards Saturday 19th May
Many people use their gifts in different ways in serving God at EMC, we are so grateful for them. We would like more people to share the privilege of reading God’s word, by reading a lesson at 10.30am services. Sharing in the church’s care by delivering church flowers on a Monday morning (approximately 6 times a year) Welcoming people as they come to church on Sunday—there is a get together for ‘Vestry,, ‘Door’ and ‘Welcome’ Stewards’ on Saturday 19th May if you would like to find out more. If you would like to add your name to one of the rotas or find out more please speak to Judith Wakelin, Jane Williams or one of the Stewards.
A New Tuesday Morning House Group
Following the Bible Course, we have a new House Group meeting at the church on a Tuesday morning at 10am-11.30ish. We will be meeting fortnightly starting on Tues. 17 April. Anyone is welcome to join us for what will be an informal time of fellowship during which we plan to use studies based around the Sunday sermon series. For any further information please speak to Peter or Kathryn Thompson. The aim of all House Groups is to support and encourage one another in our faith and so, if a different time would suit you better, please speak to Chris Shaw who can provide details of other times and days.
Christian Listening Skills course: May 5th, 10 am to 4 pm - The course is now full. If you would like to go on a waiting list in case a place becomes available please speak to Jane Williams or email.
‘Effective Listening Skills’ course at EMC, run by Acorn Christian Healing Foundation, to explore how to listen to God, ourselves and those around us. EMC Pastoral Team recommends this opportunity to develop our listening skills to care better for each other and be more effective in discipleship. Places are free but limited to 24. Reaching out to those experiencing loss or bereavement, we want to offer support, friendship and fellowship in a safe environment. The Drop-in will provide a supportive place for listening and being heard, for friendship and fellowship. We will be responsive to need and able to ’signpost’ useful services and organisations. Please drop in and feel free to bring a friend. We look forward to meeting you over tea and cake. Please pray that we can provide a useful and supportive outreach and demonstrate God’s love for us all as we try to support one another.

Sound of Music Sing-a-long April 28th 6 30pm
The Guides and Rangers are arranging a Sound of Music Sing-a-long fundraiser on Saturday 28th April. Refreshments from 6.30pm for a 7pm start. You are warmly invited to our special Christian Aid Evening on Saturday 12th May at 7.00pm. Laura Mead is coming from Christian Aid to share with us about their work and focus for this year, so we hope you will want to hear about the challenges and rewards of Aid Agencies working in difficult situations. There will be a meal provided, for which there will be no charge, but we would hope that you will want to give generously to the work of Christian Aid. Please support this event and invite your friends. Newcomers’ Lunch Sunday June 17th
Every so often we invite all our newcomers to the Church to join us for a light lunch in a relaxed atmosphere to meet other newcomers and find out a little more about the Church. Our next lunch is on Sunday 17th June and we would be really pleased if you could join us for a light lunch in the Lower Lounge from 12-1.30pm. If you have filled in a Welcome Card I have your details and will send you an invitation. If you haven’t filled in a Welcome Card please will you do so and I can invite you too; the cards are kept on the table just inside the entrance to the Church, or speak to one of the Stewards, and, when completed, the card can be put in the box on the same table. We do hope that all newcomers will join us for lunch and children will also be very welcome; if you have already made contact with another newcomer please invite them to join us as well.

Ryelands Methodist Home May Fair
Will be held on Saturday 12th May from 2-4pm. On behalf of Epsom church, Martin Gunton will be running a second-hand book stall and welcomes donations of items for sale, not only books but also plants, toiletries, bric-a-brac, items to auction, and cakes and preserves on the day. Contact Martin Gunton. Entry is by programme (£1 including tea or coffee) in advance or on the door. Programmes will be on sale here between the morning services on 29th April and 6th May.
David & Barbara’s Charity Garden Party, June 30th 2018, 12.00-3pm
All are welcome. Please bring friends or family and mention the garden party to any others who may be interested. If you are travelling by car please use the car park of the Catholic Church on the corner of Bepton Road and Pretoria Avenue. It is then only a few minutes walk to Cavalier Close via a footpath straight ahead on the first bend of Pretoria Avenue by the triangle of trees. RSVP. Not essential but will help in preparation. This event is supporting Action for Children and Water Aid. William West, saxophonist , will also busk, supported by Musical Meyhem to raise money for his attendance at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.

Parking for Regular Church Users
With the forthcoming introduction of our Flashpark scheme we are currently contacting all existing church groups and asking them about their requirements for parking permits. However, if you are a regular user of the EMC car park during the week for church purposes other than those connected with a Church Group, please contact Sue Massingham to discuss whether you are entitled to a parking permit.
Have you borrowed a book to read yet? We have some new titles on the shelves including books on Prayer, Mission, How to answer difficult questions, Coping with suffering, Real-life stories and much more. All are there to help encourage us in our Faith, so please have a look and see if there is something that you might like to borrow. If you have already read a book that you found helpful, please recommend it to somebody else.
‘You Must Remember this’ Sing back the memories.
As we get older we may develop memory problems, sometimes associated with Dementia. Singing exercises body and mind and when we sing together it can revive memories and stimulate the brain whilst sharing in fun and laughter and making new friends. New group opens on May 9th 2018. We meet on Wednesdays - EXCEPT the first Wednesday each month—2-3.30pm, Stoneleigh Methodist Church, Stoneleigh Crescent, KT19 0RT.
Everyone should be accompanied by a friend, relative or carer, who will have the opportunity to meet others in the same situation and share their experiences in a friendly atmosphere over a cup of tea. Ready Teddy Go! Epsom Methodist Nursery vacancy for an Assistant Treasurer
There is a vacancy for an Assistant Treasurer commencing September 2018. The Nursery is open each weekday morning during term-time. Monday prayers at St Martins
Monday prayers for the next two months will be on 9th April and 7th May at 9.15, due to Bank Holidays. It will return to the first Monday from June. It is open to everyone to pray for the work of the local churches.
