We would like to invite all newcomers to the Church to join us for a ploughman’s lunch on Sunday 19 Nov from 12—1.30pm in the Lower Lounge at the Church. All newcomers will be very welcome, with their children if they have any, and it will be an opportunity to meet other newcomers, have a chat and a good lunch. If you’ve filled in a Welcome Card I’ll send you an invitation, but if you haven’t will you please do so. They are on the table on the right as you enter the Welcome Area. Put the completed card in the brown box on that table, or hand it to the Steward who welcomed you to the service. We look forward to meeting you. Carol Stringer Pastoral Secretary
If you would like a visit from a member of the Pastoral Team or one of the ministers, please fill in one of the cards at the back of the church. Hand it to a steward or put it in the Prayers Request Box in the Welcome Area.
We are undertaking a survey about your views on the future provision of music at EMC, as we consider replacing the organ and the grand piano. Please complete the survey before 31st October. Your views are important and will make a difference. Janet Chau. Music Director.

60 years as a local preacher
In December, Alan Jameson of the Epsom and Sutton circuit, will have completed an amazing 60 years of service as a local preacher. There will be a special service to mark the occasion with a presentation showing our collective thanks for his hard work, dedication, loyalty and sharing of himself with us throughout the years. If you would like to contribute to this, please do so via the envelope in the office, before November 19th.
All Souls - Sunday 5th November
EMC holds an All Souls Service each year. It is an opportunity to remember those who have died. It will include music, prayers and quiet times for reflection. During the service the names of those who have died during the last two years will be read out and there will be an opportunity to light a candle in their memory.
We will send out invitations to those who we know have been bereaved over the past couple of years, but there may be others within our community of whom we are not aware. If you would like to add a name to the list, please let us know. There is an open invitation to attend this year’s service on Sunday 5th November at 6pm at EMC, however we would ask that if you, or someone you know, would like to come, please let the Church Office know so that we have an idea of numbers for refreshments following the service.
Book Fair Planning Meeting 10.30am Saturday 4th November

Books to Borrow
Are you looking for answers to difficult questions about Faith? Do you sense that there are areas where you would like to grow spiritually? If reading a good book might help, you can find a range of books covering these and other areas of Christian Faith, available for you to borrow. They are in the ‘Books to Borrow Basket’ which is temporarily housed on the small bookcase on the left hand side as you go out of the church. All you need to do is sign the book out in the attached notebook, so please feel free to take a look and choose a book!
Piano for sale
The piano in the Upper Lounge is for sale. Please contact the Church Office if you are interested.
At 6.30pm on Sun 29 Oct, St Martins are holding a service to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. It was on 31 Oct 1517 that Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the doors of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, which started the rapid progress of the early years of the Reformation in Germany and beyond. The preacher is the Very Rev Andris Abakuks, Dean of the Latvian Lutheran Church in this country and an Epsom resident. The service will include Holy Communion in a Lutheran setting, and there will be enthusiastic hymn-singing, as you would expect. All welcome.
Also, there is a free talk on Martin Luther and the Reformation, 7.30 pm, Fri 3 Nov, URC, Leatherhead KT22 8ST.
