On Saturday 7th October Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section members, volunteers, parents and EMC members gathered at EMC to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the opening of the first guiding units.
We had a great afternoon with lots of fun games, tea and cake and displays covering the history of the units and Girlguiding in general. Some of the Brownies and Guides even tried on uniforms from different eras.
We also had the unveiling of a special commemorative banner made by the EMC Wesley Quilters. We would like to thank them for the wonderful banner they have made. On Sunday
8th October we had a special service followed by a simple lunch.
It was also an opportunity to appreciate all the volunteers who make guiding possible.
There are many who are no longer with us and we were extremely sad at the recent death of Joyce Townsend who had been an active part of Brownies, Trefoil Guild, and EMC. She will be greatly missed.
